Associated Press reports that Planned Parenthood of Minnesota and South Dakota has created a “Prom Survival Kit” containing condoms that the organization plans to distribute in its Minneapolis-area clinics. The p[urpose of the kits is to help teens prevent pregnancy and STD transmission on prom night.

Dennis Malvasi, charged with helping James Kopp avoid arrest for the murder of Buffalo abortionist Barnett Slepian, will remain in federal custody after a judge denied his bail request Tuesday. The Indian Medical Association has asked physicians to stop conducting sex-determination tests and aiding female foeticide. On Tuesday the China government re-affirmed its existing repressive one-child birth control policy with draft legislation that also emphasizes a strict prohibition of gender-based abortion. The small city-state of Singapore is strongly urging its citizens to have more children. Alarmed by the declining birthrate,Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said last fall “We need more babies”. The New York Times reports that the government is offering cash to couples who have second and third children. It is extending maternity leave and adding a brief paternity leave for government workers. It is experimenting with flexible working hours to make child rearing easier.
