The Catholic Auxiliary Bishop of Joliet, Illinois, Roger L. Kaffer, said no amount of political pressure, protest or picketing by homosexual activists will change the church’s position against homosexual sexual activity and homosexual “marriage”. Catholic News Service reports today that the bishop made the comments while addressing more than 100 attendees at the winter district meeting of the Illinois Knights of Columbus in Springfield. He said “It is called consistency. We love the sinner, but we hate the sin.”
The Canada Family Action Coalition reports that the Law Commission of Canada recently released a discussion paper entitled: Recognizing and Supporting Close Personal Relationships Between Adults, exploring the diverse kinds of close personal relationships formed between adults. Some Canadians were invited to share their views on how governments can or should recognize and support the variety of adult relationships that Canadians form. As part of the ongoing consultation process, the Law Commission of Canada will be hosting a public webcast or Internet discussion, on January 31, 2001, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EST.
