A judge has said a U.S. nurse in Nicaragua who was ordered out of the country last week for committing illegal abortions and for involving herself in leftist politics may stay. The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of southern Andhra Pradesh state announced on Thursday that if a third child is born to any TDP member starting in April 2001, they will be ineligible to hold party posts and to contest elections on behalf of the party.
