A judge has said a U.S. nurse in Nicaragua who was ordered out of the country last week for committing illegal abortions and for involving herself in leftist politics may stay. Catholic World News reports that an Indian political party has adopted a two-child norm for its members. The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of southern Andhra Pradesh state announced on Thursday that if a third child is born to any TDP member starting in April 2001, they will be ineligible to hold party posts and to contest elections on behalf of the party.

Catholic World News reports that pro-lifers campaigning to prevent the recent separation of conjoined twins Jodie and Mary have revealed that they were sent death threats via e-mail. The Pro-Life Alliance (PLA) received an email at their London headquarters which read, “You have no idea about human rights. Eventually you will realize that we will not be intimidated by your fascist tactics. The right to choose will always prevail.
