After four years of falling divorce rates, the incidence of failed marriages in Canada rose again in 1998, with one analyst suggesting the blame may lie with the prosperous economy. New figures from Statistics Canada show that 69,088 couples divorced in 1998, a 2.5% increase over 1997. Babies are able to learn and remember while still in the womb, according to a study. Doctors in the Netherlands used sound to determine if an unborn baby could react, respond to and recognize a specific noise. They found that while pre-borns moved when they first heard the sound, they later became used to it and did not react.
