In the late 1990s a spate of church fires, many of them belonging to predominantly black congregations, was blamed on racism. Subsequently a suspect in the fires, avowed Satan worshiper, Jay Scott Ballinger, was caught, putting to rest most of the allegations of racism. Ballinger pleaded guilty yesterday to setting 26 churches on fire in eight states over a five-year period ending last year. The Justice Department wants him sentenced to 42 years in prison.

Leading international abortion provider, Marie Stopes International, is now offering British women the option of scheduling abortion consultations over the Internet. “Women have been requesting online booking from Marie Stopes International for some time,” said the organization’s spokesperson, Franca Tranza. John Smeaton, director of the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child, says that the website demonstrates that “it’s easier [to get an abortion in Britain] than [to] order food from [online supermarket] Tesco.” 

It’s not the first time, but a new report out indicates that “R”-rated movies tend not to be box office winners. American economics professor Arthur De Vany performed his study to test a theory advanced by conservative film critic Michael Medved. According to the report, R-rated films are less than half as likely as PG releases to gross $25 million in America.
