DANGERS OF THE PILL – A New Zealand study published in the current edition of The Lancet found that Pill users were 9.6 times more likely to develop a fatal pulmonary embolism than those not taking the ‘contraceptive’. Women taking third generation pills containing desogestrel or gestodene were 14 times more likely to develop pulmonary embolisms.

Brazilian bishops have reaffirmed the traditional Catholic Church position against using condoms, countering one bishop’s remarks. Brazilian church issued a statement saying, “The Church has not changed its position on this point. . . It is important to remind the young people that the publicity of contraceptives as a kind of efficient vaccine against AIDS is fallacious.”   

Pop superstar Elton John has made a public attack on Scotland’s Cardinal Thomas Winning.  Writing in the June 6 issue of The Spectator, the performer an open homosexual, said of Cardinal Winning that “his ignorance, is totally representative of why people are turning away from the Church.” “I am astonished to be told by Cardinal Winning that my sexuality is not good for me. As a gay man I am perfectly happy with my sexuality and my life.”
