ABORTION PUSHED IN PORTUGAL – A forum on “sexual and reproductive health in the context of development” took place last Tuesday in the Portuguese Parliament, hosted by the Parliamentary Committee for Parity, Equal Opportunities and the Family, and supported by the Portuguese Family   Planning Association.  Speakers included representatives from UNFPA and Planned Parenthood.  Catholic World News reports that Cardinal Thomas Winning of Glasgow publicly criticized the fledgling Scottish Parliament for the second time in a week, accusing it of declaring war on marriage and the family. Last Saturday, the cardinal said the parliament’s insistence on revoking Section 28, a law against promoting homosexuality in schools, was an “utter failure”.  He also stated “We are lifting a ban on the promotion of homosexuality while at the same time imposing a de facto ban on the promotion of marriage.”
