A Nova Scotia woman who gave birth on her bathroom floor and then dumped the dead baby girl in the backyard was given a suspended sentence in Kentville provincial court yesterday. The National Post reports that Angel Dawn Tompkins, 28, was placed on probation for two years after she pleaded guilty to neglecting to obtain assistance in the June 6, 1998, birth. There was apparently insufficient evidence to prove the infant was born alive.
