The Catholic Register reports today that Ontario’s Catholic bishops have thrown their support behind a new coalition seeking full government funding of religious-based schools in addition to the already funded Catholic school system. 

A Reuters report circulated by Pro-Life E-News notes that Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern has pledged to hold a referendum on changing the country’s abortion laws.

Church News reported Saturday that Columbia is considering a new Penal Code which would allow for genetic manipulation of human embryos for scientific research.  Columbia Archbishop Pedro Rubiano Saenz of Bogota jas written an article opposing the measure saying that the proposals put “human being’s dignity at stake.”

Marion Richardson, 36, of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England is suing Britain’s largest condom manufacturer for substantial damages, claiming that a split condom led to the birth of her third child. The company denies the condom was defective.
