Pharmacists’ Manual Confirms the Pill Causes Abortions
TORONTO, Apr 21 (LSN) – Michael Izzotti, a practicing pharmacist and the President of Pharmacists for Life International – Canada, told LifeSite yesterday that the manual used by pharmacists confirms that “the pill” causes abortions. Izzotti read out various segments of the “Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties” that indicated that the so-called contraceptive pill acts in three ways, one of which is to weaken the endometrium (the lining of the womb) thus preventing implantation of the conceived child. Izzotti told LifeSite that “altering the endometrium has no other purpose than to prevent the implantation of an already conceived (fertilized) child thus causing an abortion.”
The three ways in which oral contraceptives operate are: i) preventing ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary) ii) thickening the cervical mucus, making it harder for the sperm to reach the egg, and iii) preventing implantation if fertilization has taken place.
While the first two mechanisms would be truly contraceptive (ie. preventing conception or fertilization) the third would be abortive since the conceived child would not be able to connect to its mother’s life-sustaining uterus, dying as a result.
Scientific evidence concurs with the pro-life movement that life begins at conception (fertilization) from which time the being is alive, human, complete (in its DNA blueprint) and growing. Thus whenever oral contraceptives (including IUD’s, Norplant, and Depo-Provera injections) fail to prevent fertilization, they cause abortions. This documentation, which is becoming increasingly available, has sometimes shocked even pro-lifers who have been using them, having accepted the claims that all these “contraceptives” did was prevent fertilization.
Contraceptive manufacturers include some of this revealing material in their own documentation handed out with oral contraceptive packages. A “Narrative from Oral Contraceptive Module” put on the internet by a pro-abortion/contraception organization also confirms this truth. Family Health International, which describes itself as a ” not-for profit organization committed to helping women and men have access to safe, effective, acceptable and affordable family planning methods,” indicates on its web site that “Under the influence of COCs (oral contraceptives), only a small amount of endometrial growth occurs. The thinner endometrium would make implantation unlikely, in the rare event that fertilization occurs.”
Izzotti told LifeSite that interested individuals should inquire with their pharmacists about the three actions of oral contraceptives. “Pharmacists are the health care professionals who are the most trusted and accessible to the public,” he said.
