OTTAWA, April 10, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Concerned Canadian pharmacists have published a list of vaccines in use in the country that are currently sourced from aborted fetal tissues. It turns out that all vaccines with the exception of the flu vaccine utilize aborted fetal tissues.

Alternatives do exist upon special request from a physician for the hepatitis B and rabies vaccines; visit www.cogforlife.org/canadianvaccines.htm to see a complete list of vaccines. The Children of God for Life (COG) web site also includes a list of medications that are derived from aborted fetal tissue, including the rheumatoid arthritis drug Enbrel ®.

A Vatican document published last year states that doctors and families “have a duty to take recourse to alternatives, putting pressure on political authorities and health systems…They should use conscientious objection and oppose by all means – in writing, through various associations, mass media, etc, – the vaccines which do not yet have morally acceptable alternatives, creating pressure so that alternative vaccines are prepared, which are not connected with the abortion of a human foetus…”

Human lives are deliberately taken in order to furnish cell lines for the production of these vaccines, according to COG. The COG also state that, similar to organ transplantation, tissues must be “harvested” in a live form in order to be of any use for the purpose of creating a vaccine. “In aborted fetal tissue research, as in any type of human tissue or organ transplant or research, it is essential that the samples collected are still living,” they state. This type of harvest implies informed consent by the mother for her child to be used for scientific or commercial purposes.

At a Merck pharmaceutical manufacturer shareholders meeting, Debi Vinnedge, who is Executive Director of Children of God for Life, blasted the Board for their inherent disregard for the American public’s plea for ethical vaccines. COG had acquired enough stock in the company to put forward resolutions, and had a resolution passed to force the company to make known its use of aborted fetal tissue in its vaccines.

“Any manufacturer that deliberately and needlessly chooses to utilize abortion-derived cell lines causes great hardship for thousands, if not millions of people worldwide by excluding a large number of them from the benefits of preventative medicine,” she said. “Whether by intent or indifference, such action constitutes an attempt to force the acceptance of fetal exploitation.”

Health Canada allows exceptions to compulsory vaccination for moral or religious grounds and reasons of conscience.
