CHICAGO (LifeSiteNews) – A group of students at Loyola University in Chicago scored a victory against a strict COVID-19 vaccine mandate last week, after threatening a lawsuit.

The 11 students had sought exemptions from Loyola’s vaccine requirements, citing religious objections to the currently available abortion-tainted COVID-19 vaccines.

“The students objected based on the fetal cell line/abortion connection since each of the three injections available were either produced or tested with fetal cell lines that originated in elective abortions,” according to a press release on Thursday from Liberty Counsel, a conservative, Christian legal group representing the students.

“These students did not want to be forced to choose between their faith and their education.”

The university nevertheless denied the exemption requests, “even though their statements were more than sufficient under applicable law and under Loyola’s nondiscrimination policy,” Liberty Counsel said. The vaccine mandate issued by Loyola in April requires proof of vaccination in order to attend in-person classes and on-campus events and to live in university residence halls.

“Students who have not uploaded their vaccination cards or received approval for an exemption by Friday, August 6, will not remain enrolled in classes when the fall semester begins and will not have access to campus buildings,” the university’s vaccine policy states. Unvaccinated faculty and staff face possible termination.

Powerful nations of the world, including China, the UK, and Canada are discussing plans to require so-called 'vaccine passports' as a condition for travel, and possibly to restrict entry to shopping and entertainment venues.

Israel has already put in place a system to discriminate against those who choose not to take the COVID vaccine, and, in the United States, Joe Biden has signed a new executive order which could pave the way for the implementation of a 'vaccine passport' system. [See more below.]

This kind of medical dictatorship must be resisted, and therefore, we must act quickly before these authoritarian notions take root and spread!

Please SIGN and SHARE this urgent petition to SAY NO to government 'vaccine passports.' Tell your legislators to respect your freedom not to vaccinate without fear of repercussion.

People should not have to live in fear of government retribution for refusing a vaccine which is being rushed to market by Big Pharma and their fellow-travelers in NGOs, like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

It would be intolerable and immoral for the government to coerce someone, and their family, to take a COVID vaccine against their will just so they can do their weekly grocery shopping, go to a high school soccer game, travel on public transport, or visit their relatives who live in a different part of the country, or overseas.

Medical freedom must be respected in principle and also in practice.

So, it is now time that our policy-makers listen to all voices involved in this vital conversation, and start to represent those who will not tolerate being punished, restricted, or tracked for refusing an experimental vaccine.

Simply put, legislatures must begin to act as legislatures again.

Questions must be asked. Hearings and investigations must be held. And, the legislatures of each state and country must return to the business of representing the people who voted for them, assuming their rightful place as the originator of legislation.

We will no longer accept the dictates of executive branches without question. And, neither can we accept the dictates of some doctors who seem detached from reality and from science.

Please SIGN and SHARE this urgent petition which asks national political leaders (as well as state and provincial legislators in the U.S. and Canada) to pledge to respect the rights of those who refuse a COVID vaccine, and NOT introduce 'vaccine passports,' or any other system which would discriminate on the basis of taking the COVID vaccine.

Loyola reversed course on the 11 students’ exemptions requests last week, however, ultimately granting religious exemptions “just hours before the school was going to be hit with a federal lawsuit,” Liberty Counsel said.

“After Liberty Counsel gave the school a deadline of August 4 to accept the student’s religious exemptions or face a lawsuit, the school finally complied and accommodated these eleven students,” the organization said. 10 additional Loyola students whose exemption requests were denied have since reached out to Liberty Counsel, the Washington Examiner reported.

“This is a great victory for these 11 students, but Loyola University needs to drop its unlawful mandate immediately. Forcing any person to receive one of these COVID injections authorized for emergency use by the FDA is a violation of both state and federal law,” Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver said Thursday.

Liberty Counsel noted that Illinois law prohibits discrimination “against any person in any manner,” “in any particular form of health care services contrary to his or her conscience,” and imposes financial penalties of at least $2,500 for violations.

The group has also argued that Loyola University is in violation of federal law.

“The COVID vaccines are in a special category and cannot be treated like FDA licensed vaccines,” a Liberty Counsel memo on vaccine mandates from May states. “None of the COVID vaccines are FDA licensed; nor have they received full FDA approval. Rather, their approval is under the special provision noted above as EUA.”

“Federal law requires full and informed, voluntary consent. All employees – whether employed by religious organizations, or not – are protected against mandated COVID-19 vaccines, under 21 U.S.C. §360bbb-3, which provides that EUA products (like all of these vaccines) require (as a condition of emergency approval) that people have ‘the option to accept or refuse administration of the product.’”

Vaccine mandates have so far moved forward across the U.S. in recent weeks all the same. Along with Loyola, more than 500 colleges and universities have made COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for students ahead of the fall semester. As of July, at least five percent of all American employers have instituted vaccine mandates as well, according to the Census Bureau.

And on Monday, the Biden administration announced that the vaccines will be required for all members of the military by September, following new restrictions on unvaccinated government employees unveiled last month.
