WASHINGTON, Aug 24, 2001 (LSN.ca) – A survey of American Muslim opinion released yesterday shows a slight majority of Muslims are against embryonic stem cell research and a vast majority against human cloning. That survey, conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) shows that 37 percent said they opposed the use of stem cells from human embryos in medical research while 35 percent supported its use and 29 percent had no opinion.

According to the Washington-based Islamic advocacy group’s poll of 1008 individuals, 81 percent said they are against human cloning. The poll also found that 67 percent want the introduction of school vouchers in the educational system.
