(LifeSiteNews) — Republican U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene recently criticized the FBI for “targeting” Catholics while simultaneously “not going after” the pro-abortion extremist group Jane’s Revenge.
Greene made the comments in a recent interview with Newsmax during which she discussed a testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray at a July 12 hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. As part of his testimony, Wray had doubled down on his defense of the federal agency’s raid of Catholic sidewalk counselor and father of seven Mark Houck, who was accused of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and later acquitted of all charges.
“They target conservatives. They target Trump supporters. And the proof is there,” Greene said. “The FBI targeted Catholics attending Latin Mass, putting agents inside a Latin Mass but yet not going after Jane’s Revenge, the radical group that was firebombing pregnancy resource centers. This is who the FBI is, and that is why they have to be held accountable.”

Greene added that unfair actions from the agency leads Americans to “not trust” the Department of Justice (DOJ), which she described as “extremely sad.” However, she noted, “that’s why we have tools in Congress” to combat such injustices. She cited the Holman rule, which allows Congress to “completely zero out their salaries” as well as “the powerful tool of impeachment.” The congresswoman has herself “introduced articles of impeachment on Christopher Wray and Merrick Garland, because I’m a business owner and I believe in firing people.”
“I want to answer to the frustration that people feel at home because I think that’s the right thing to do,” Greene continued. “We only have 222 Republicans in the House of Representatives, and it takes 218 votes, yes votes, to pass anything, and so it’s very hard for us to get there.”
“This is an administration that believes that weaponizing the government against their political opponents — not just their political opponent Donald Trump, but the American people as well. And so, this is a dangerous time that we live in, but I want people at home to understand that there’s a lot of us here that are working very hard to bring accountability to this administration.”
Wray’s latest testimony comes after Greene filed articles of impeachment against him for unfairly suppressing pro-lifers and Catholics in May and after the FBI director previously defended his agency’s actions against Houck during a Fox News interview. The since-retracted Richmond field office memo that indicated federal agents were monitoring traditional Catholics was later admitted by Attorney General Merrick Garland to be “appalling.”
In November 2022, roughly four months after the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade, Wray estimated that 70% of abortion-related violence since the Dobbs decision had been against pro-life pregnancy centers and churches. Though over 300 attacks against pro-life organizations have occurred in the past year, the Biden administration’s DOJ has only brought charges against five suspects.
Two Florida residents were indicted by a federal grand jury in January and charged with FACE Act violations. The following April, two more suspects received the same charges. Last week, an Ohio college student faced similar allegations for vandalizing a pro-life pregnancy center with pro-abortion slogans.
In June, the FBI offered a monetary reward for information about threats made in December 2022 in which Jane’s Revenge threatened to “shoot up” pro-lifers in Nebraska.
