September 15, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Over 30,000 people in over 200 cities and towns across Canada are preparing to witness to life on October 2nd in the 24th annual Canadian Life Chain.
Each year on the first Sunday of October pro-lifers throughout Canada join their brothers and sisters in the U.S. in a powerful street witness campaign that proclaims the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.

Life Chain was begun in the U.S. in 1987 by Please Let Me Live, Inc., a small Christian pro-life ministry in Yuba City, California.
Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) organized the first Life Chain in Canada in 1992, 97 Chains built across the country that October.
CLC explains that Life Chain is an easy way to get involved in pro-life.
“Just find out where your local Life Chain will be held and who is organizing it. Then show up for one hour, stand on the side walk with others who are not ashamed to be a public witness, and pray for an end to the infanticidal practice of abortion.”
Participants stand in witness for one hour on sidewalks along major streets in towns and cities, peacefully and prayerfully holding signs reading “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Jesus Forgives and Heals” and “Adoption: The Loving Option” before passers-by and motorists.
Suresh Domenic, past Canadian coordinator for Life Chain at the national headquarters of Campaign Life Coalition in Toronto, said Life Chain “is for anyone who cares about the sanctity of life, of whatever faith or no faith.”
“It’s also to increase public awareness of the abortion issue and to support, through our prayers, women who have undergone abortions and their babies. We are a voice for the victims and we pray for the conversion of those who promote abortion and that those who have been hurt by it will be consoled,” Suresh noted.
