TORONTO, May 3, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In co-operation with the Defend Marriage Coalition, March4Marriage.ca, and Jubilee Centre for Christian Social Action, Equipping Christians for the Public Square Centre (ECP) is organizing a rally in defence of marriage on Monday, May 23 (12 noon to 2:00 p.m.) at Queen’s Park in Toronto. Organizer and ECP Executive director Rev. Tristan Emmanuel, describes the event as “a rally, the likes of which this province, indeed, the nation, has never witnessed before,” on his web site.
“The Ottawa rally, on April 9th, proved that opponents of Christian culture have managed to succeed only because we have remained estranged,” Rev. Emmanuel explained in a release. “But by coming together – Roman Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant – the way we did on the Hill we have a visible testimony that when we stand together, the political walls of secular-liberalism will surely fail.”
“The national media is telling politicians that Canadians really don’t care that much about this issue,” Rev. Emmanuel continued. “We need to ensure that Canada’s federal and provincial politicians will hear and see the heartland of Ontario. Morality and marriage matter not only south of the border, but here in Canada as well and, in the anticipated election, they will matter MOST!”
“I cannot stress the importance of your physical presence and support enough,” he entreated. “Please, make every effort to attend this event, and bring your family and friends, and congregation members as well, and together we will draw the line and stand for marriage.”
