NORFOLK, Nebraska (LifeSiteNews) — Left-leaning media outlets ran stories glossing over a horrific story about the killing, burning, and burying of a fully-formed late-term baby, choosing instead to decry the fact that Facebook helped facilitate the police investigation into the gruesome crime.
“Two people murdered a fully formed baby at their house, burned and buried the evidence, had their dms seized via search warrant, are not being charged for an abortion itself but with ‘removing, concealing or abandoning a dead human body,’” digital strategist and former social media editor for the conservative Daily Caller Greg Price wrote in a Wednesday Twitter thread, going on to rip left-leaning media outlets for headlines evading the horrific details of the incident.

According to court documents, Jessica Burgess, 41, procured abortion drugs in April 2022 to help her 17-year-old daughter Celeste end the life of her unborn baby, who was then at 23 weeks’ gestation.
Even before Roe v. Wade was overturned in late June, Nebraska’s pro-life laws make it a felony to perform an abortion after 20 weeks’ gestation.
Before and after the pregnant teen delivered her deceased baby, she and her mother reportedly communicated via Facebook messages to plan the illegal abortion and coordinate the disposal of the body, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. The two allegedly drove miles outside of town after the birth of the dead child to bury the infant’s body, then dug it up again to burn it before burying it again.
A Norfolk Police detective reportedly launched an investigation after receiving a tip about the illegal disposal of the body, the outlet reported. After exhuming the infant’s body, the detective said it showed signs of “thermal wounds,” indicating it had been burned.

As part of a criminal investigation into the incident, law enforcement officials served Facebook with a search warrant to gain access to the private messages. Messages exchanged between the mother and daughter reportedly include remarks about obtaining the abortion drugs, with Celeste allegedly exclaiming that she would “finally be able to wear jeans” and reminding her mother that they would “burn the evidence,” according to records published by the New York Post.
In his affidavit, the Norfolk detective wrote that Celeste had also remarked that she couldn’t “wait to get the ‘thing’ out of her body,” the Lincoln Journal Star reported.
The story made national news, but many left-leaning news organizations dodged its gruesome details, leading instead with remarks about Facebook’s role in handing over the information.
The outlets focused on warning about the practical implication of pro-life laws, and the alleged threats to personal privacy if social media platforms can hand over private messages to facilitate the investigation of an illegal abortion.
For example, a CNN headline read: “Nebraska teen and mother facing charges in abortion-related case that involved obtaining their Facebook messages.”
Meanwhile, NBC reported that “Facebook turned over the chats of a mother and her daughter to Nebraska police after they were served with a warrant as part of an investigation into an illegal abortion, court documents show.”
“The investigation … is one of the few known instances of Facebook’s turning over information to help law enforcement officials pursue an abortion case — but it is also an example of a scenario that abortion rights experts have warned will be more common as all abortions becomes illegal in many states,” the outlet continued.
Likewise, The Guardian wrote, “Facebook gave police their private data. Now, this duo face abortion charges.”
In his Wednesday Twitter thread, Greg Price blasted the slanted coverage and highlighted a collection of screenshots from mainstream or left-leaning media outlets that all seemed to frame the story as a violation of privacy rather than standard practice in a criminal investigation into a heinous murder.

Jessica has been charged with three felonies and two misdemeanors, and Celeste has been charged with a felony and two misdemeanors.
A 22-year-old man who reportedly helped the pair dispose of the body has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge and awaits sentencing later this month.
