MEXICO, March 5, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Mexican government’s new policy of including abortifacients in “family planning” programs has come under fire from leading pro-life groups and religious and civil organizations.  Culture for Life president, Jorge Serrano Limon, said, “Civil organizations, the leadership of the Catholic Church, the Orthodox, Presbyterians, Evangelicals, the Mexican Red Cross, businessmen and lawmakers, are presenting juridical arguments and scientific proof for the reversal of this policy.”

The group has launched a civil lawsuit against the government. The 12 Roman Catholic bishops of Mexico have signed onto the suit that alleges the policy is illegal because it infringes the right to life, attempts to legalize abortion and infringes on the rights of parents.
