U.S. Attorney General Ashcroft approves buffer zone   WASHINGTON, D.C., June 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Rev. Patrick Mahoney, a Presbyterian minister and director of the pro-life Christian Defense Coalition, says he will risk six months in jail for reading scripture inside an abortuary bubble zone.  “I’m going to pray and read scripture 25 feet [away] on the public sidewalk. I am then going to move within 10 feet, which would be in the 20 foot zone and do the exact same thing,” Mahoney said. “We feel that the only way to deal with this is to peacefully go out and exercise our First Amendment rights.”  Mahoney criticized John Ashcroft, the pro-life U.S. Attorney General, for his acquiescence in the buffer zone, ordered by a liberal judge who herself accused Ashcroft of trying to placate what she called the “pro-choice movement.” Says Mahoney: “There’s no other explanation.”  To read a CNSNews report see:  https://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=Nationarchive
