(LifeSiteNews) — Minnesota’s Democratic Gov. Tim Walz announced Monday that teens in his state who get their first COVID shot between now and November 30 are eligible to receive a $200 VISA gift card.

The program, aimed at 12–17-year-olds, is titled “Kids Deserve a Shot,” also includes a chance to win a $100,000 scholarship to attend a public or private Minnesota college.

The governor’s attempt at bribery may persuade some kids who otherwise are disinclined to do so to take the COVID-19 jab which has already shown to have heightened risks for young people.

According to a startling report issued last month by the Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedicines in Germany, the number of reported cases of suspected adverse effects following COVID-19 vaccination in children aged 12 to 17 has now exceeded the total number of COVID-related hospitalizations for children within the same age group since the beginning of the pandemic.

Without mentioning the documented risks, Walz is encouraging young people via social media to go ahead and get vaccinated.

“Minnesota teens: Not only are you eligible to get vaccinated, but starting today, you can also get $200 AND a shot at a $100,000 college scholarship,” shouted a tweet from Walz.

“Tell your friends and head to [the Minnesota vaccine rewards website],” he urged.

Walz is not the first governor to offer a bribe to incentivize teens to accept the abortion-tainted vaccine.  In May, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine promoted a lottery for teens between the ages of 12 and 17 who received the injections offering five vaccinated winners a “full, four-year scholarship to our state universities.”

Washington, D.C., has also offered VISA gift cards to teens 12–17 of age who agreed to receive the jab.

While many supported the Minnesota governor’s announcement, not all were happy with the governor’s action.

“Bribing teens to get a vaccine that they statistically don’t really need is definitely an odd way of building trust,” responded Twitter user Austin.

“I would advise anyone considering this to read what WHO (World Health Organization) has put out on vaccinating kids,” replied Stingr01.

“This is just a coercive bribe. Kids that young have close to literally no risk from contracting COVID,” tweeted Kevin White.

“Shame on you,” he added.

“Just like with the adults, if the bribes don’t work, punishment comes next,” warned David Opheim. “Still think this about a virus?”
