'Paola Eden Delgado Polanco was a young thriving girl and full of life, with charming simplicity and humility,' her family said in a statement.

The unborn child of a young Delaware mother allegedly beaten to death with a baseball bat by her boyfriend has survived, something her family has called a miracle.

Police were called to the New Castle County home of 21-year-old Paola Delgado-Polanco on October 19 after the six-month pregnant woman was found unconscious, the DailyMailUK reports.

Investigators determined Paola’s injuries resulted from a domestic assault, and Delgado-Polanco’s 24-year-old boyfriend Fernando Flores was arrested that same day.

Delgado-Polanco died 10 days later from her injuries, but not before doctors were able to deliver her three-month premature daughter. The child is listed in critical but stable condition.

“God has plans for all of us and Paola is now in the kingdom of heaven with our Heavenly Father,” Delgado-Polanco’s family said on her gofundme page, where they are fundraising to help care for Delgado-Polanco’s daughter.

In addition to caring for her daughter, Delgado-Polanco’s family is asking for financial help in bringing Paola’s body back to her native Puente de Camotlan Nayarit, Mexico.

“Paola Eden Delgado Polanco was a young thriving girl and full of life, with charming simplicity and humility,” her family said in a statement. “Paola was six months pregnant, and by a miracle the baby survived.”

“She was beautiful, but her inner beauty was far more radiant than her physical attractiveness,” they said.

Flores is awaiting trial in the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, according to the DailyMail. His charges have been upgraded to manslaughter.
