JOHANNESBURG, May 26, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A healthy baby girl has been born in South Africa after developing in her mother’s liver rather than in the womb. There have been 14 documented cases of a child developing in this way, the BBC reports, but little Nhlahla, which means ‘luck’ in Zulu, is only the fourth baby to survive such a pregnancy. The baby developed even without the protection of the womb’s muscular wall. Doctors found a small window where the amniotic sac, normally inside the womb, connected with the outside of the liver. They delivered the baby through that window. Liver specialist Jack Krige, who assisted with the delivery, told reporters: “She is the real thing. She is truly a miracle baby.” For local coverage: https://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/topstories/story/0,4386,191132,00.html
