JEFFERSON CITY, May 13, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Democratic Missouri Governor Bob Holden’s $19 billion budget, which passed the state legislature last week, includes a $3.6 million cut in so-called family planning services. Pro-life legislators had been targeting the money for years because some of it goes to Planned Parenthood, which in turn uses the funds to subsidize abortion. However, a pro-life program was also cut. A $700,000 “alternatives to abortion” program helped women to cope with unplanned pregnancies or find prenatal care.
