FREDERICTON, July 29, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Abortionist Henry Morgentaler has filed suit against the the New Brunswick government to fully fund private abortions at his personal Fredericton abortion clinic, filing in the New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench this month.  New Brunswick taxpayers pay for abortions only in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, if they are carried out in a hospital, and only after a woman has approval from two doctors. Morgentaler says this process is “unconstitutional” and violates the Canada Health Act because it denies women full access to abortion.  The Morgentaler clinic has been performing abortions in Fredericton since1994, and claims to do them only up to the 16th week of pregnancy. Elsewhere, however, it is well known that Morgentaler accepts abortion very late into pregnancy, which would allow his clinics to charge much higher fees.  (With files from Pro-Life E-News)
