SALT LAKE CITY, Mich, Feb 10 (Lifesitenews.com) – On Tuesday Mormon church leader Dallin H. Oaks spoke at Brigham Young University on the position of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding abortion. “The church opposes elective abortion for personal or social convenience,” said Oaks.
Mormons, however, appear to take a much more liberal position on abortion than Catholic and Evangelical churches. The Salt Lake Tribune reported today that Oaks reminded those in attendance that the only exceptions allowed by church leaders are when a pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, if the mother’s life or health is endangered in a doctor’s opinion, or if the fetus has such serious defects it would not survive past birth.
