VANCOUVER, Apr 20 (LifeSiteNews.com) – With the reality of the over-the-counter availability of the morning after pill (MAP) in British Columbia, Campaign Life Coalition BC president John Hof has urged all BC pro-lifers to act to stop the abortifacient proliferation.  Hof urges pro-lifers to ask their local pharmacists if they will be making MAP available without prescription, and if children as young as 12 and 14 will be able to walk in and buy the drugs without parental consent.  A boycott of all pharmacies dispensing MAP is in effect.

In a press release Hof noted that “The MAP is a ‘double dose’ contraceptive pill designed specifically to make the women’s womb an inhospitable place for the fertilized egg.” Several years ago birth control pill manufacturers were forced to drastically reduce the strength of the “prescription only” pill because of serious long-term side effects of strong dosages.  “Now we see rave reviews for this same dangerous medication being made available to teenagers upon request,” said Hof.  “Who will be held accountable for the damages done to women from the residual effects of these steroids?  Will women who become sterile or suffer from breast cancer because of these ‘chemical coat-hangers’ be able to go to the pharmacists to be compensated?”, he asked.

Pharmacists who in conscience cannot dispense these abortifacient drugs have no protection.  They must hand over to anyone who asks, the means he or she believes will kill an unborn child.  “Legislation must be drafted that will prevent companies from ostracizing and even firing dedicated druggists who stand up for their beliefs.”
