GLASGOW, Scotland, Jan 24 (LifeSiteNews) – George Galloway, a leading Labour MP from Glasgow likened Cardinal Thomas Winning, leader of Scotland’s 750,000 Catholics, to a “raving bigot”  following the cardinal’s opposition to the promotion of homosexuality in schools.

Galloway was reacting to the cardinal’s use of the word “perverse” to describe the homosexual act. “I was disgusted by the use of this word [perversion] which could have dripped from the lips of any raving bigot, and Cardinal Winning had no business using such a word,” said Galloway. “Cardinal Winning is not fit for the great office that he holds.”

However, the Rt. Rev James Jones, the Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, spoke up in support of Cardinal Winning, rejecting accusations that the cardinal is “homophobic.”
