MTV TO AIR ABORTION PROMOTING ADS

WASHINGTON, Oct 27 (LSN) – The Pro-Choice Education Project, sponsored by a band of abortion- promoting groups, has put out two advertisements on the youth-oriented music video channel MTV. The thirty-second ads, which cost about $275,000 (US) to produce, promote abortion for the young. The ads are running 40 times a week on MTV in 18 U.S. cable television markets. They began airing last Monday and will continue through Nov. 21, with a break during the week beginning Nov. 2.

Angela Bonavoglia, the campaign’s director, said the ads were to counter the efforts of Operation Rescue and effects of the abstinence only programs. The steering committee behind the project includes anti-life groups such as Planned Parenthood Federation of America, The Feminist Majority and the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League.

In one ad, a father with two young daughters at a soccer match says, “My daughters aren’t teenagers — yet. I want them to have every opportunity. That’s why I get angry when politicians limit their choices, voting against sex education and abortion, making it harder to get birth control.”

In the other, a young girl with a worried look paces around a dormitory room next to an opened pregnancy kit, as a clock ticks in the background. The ad ends with the line, “It’s your choice. Make it the right one for you.”
