(LifeSiteNews) — Bronny James, the 18-year-old son of liberal NBA player LeBron James, suffered a cardiac arrest during practice with the University of Southern California (USC) basketball team yesterday, according to TMZ Sports. It is not known if he received the COVID-19 shot.
The 6’3’’ former McDonald’s High School All-American was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital after falling unconscious while working out with the Trojans’ men’s squad Monday morning. James had committed to the school in May.
News of the incident prompted many on social media to question if it was related to the experimental COVID jab, as reports of fully-vaccinated professional athletes experiencing heart issues and even death have skyrocketed in recent years.
“We cannot ascribe everything to the vaccine, but, by the same token, we cannot ascribe nothing,” Twitter CEO Elon Musk said Tuesday. “Myocarditis is a known side-effect. The only question is whether it is rare or common.”

According to TMZ, a 9-1-1 call was placed at 9:26 a.m. Monday, July 24 from USC’s Galen Center. An ambulance with sirens blaring sped to the scene. A family spokesperson released the following statement to the outlet:
Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.
Bronny attended Sierra Canyon High School just outside Los Angeles. His father LeBron has expressed a desire to play with him in the NBA when he becomes eligible for the draft in 2024. Former NFL player Damar Hamlin, who himself suffered a cardiac event in the post-COVID era, as well as many A-list athletes have expressed well-wishes to the James family for Bronny’s recovery.
“LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes,” the family said.
In September of 2021, LeBron stated that he was initially “skeptical” about receiving the COVID shot but “after doing my research and things of that nature, I felt it was best for not only me, but for my family, for my friends. That’s why I decided to do it.”
