OTTAWA, Feb 12 (Lifesitenews.com) BillC-63, a government sponsored bill to regarding Canadian citizenship would allow the cabinet to redefine “spouse” to include same-sex couples for the privileges of granting immigration and citizenship status. Section 43 of the Act refers to orders in council decisions decisions which can be made by the privy council and do not have to be approved by the House. Section 43i allows states that government in council can make regulations “defining who is a spouse for the purposes of this act.” The bill is scheduled for 2nd reading on Tuesday Feb 16, 1999. Insiders note that it is no coincidence that it will be overshadowed by the budget presentation which is scheduled for the same day.
