MONCTON, NB, August 28, 2003 ( – The four Catholic bishops of the province of New Brunswick took out a newspaper advertisement Tuesday to publicize their position on same-sex ‘marriage’.  The statement, which is signed by Most Rev. J. Faber MacDonald, Bishop of Saint John; Most Rev. André Richard, Archbishop of Moncton; Most Rev. François Thibodeau, Bishop of Edmundston; and Most Rev. Valéry Vienneau, Bishop of Bathurst endorses a similar letter issued by the permanent council of the CCCB (see the LifeSite coverage: )  “We are in complete agreement with Reverend Berthelet’s remarks,” the New Brunswick bishops stated, “and . . . wish to express our opposition as Catholic Bishops of New Brunswick to the proposed bill . . . that encroaches on the definition of marriage as it has always existed.”  (with files from the NB Telegraph-Journal Aug 27, 2003)
