OTTAWA, March 28, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Statistics Canada today released information that 105,427 babies were deliberately killed in their mothers’ wombs in the year 2000 in Canada. The numbers do not include chemical abortions by the abortion pill (which has received extensive use in ‘testing’ phases in Canada) or the abortifacient morning after pill or by abortifacient ‘contraceptives. The reported death toll is added to the two million slaughtered since 1969. “Our federal leaders try to brag about their human rights record in Canada and abroad, while they ignore the mounting death toll that they have refused to stop here at home,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition (CLC). “Statistics are cold numbers but each one of these precious babies before birth were human beings who were systematically dismembered by doctors in procedures paid for by the taxpayers,” said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer of CLC. “The death of each of these babies has been recorded in the Book of Life long before they were counted by StatCan,” she said. The 1999 abortion count was slightly higher at 105,666 but the abortion rate remained steady at 15.4 abortions per 1,000 women in both 1999 and 2000.
Gillian Long of Campaign Life Coalition Youth commented saying, “As a young woman in my child-bearing years, it saddens me to see my peers hurting themselves and their children at such an incredible rate. Abortion has been linked to breast cancer, future infertility and psychological disorders. Why aren’t the doctors and the government telling us about these things?” See the complete Campaign Life Coalition press release at https://www.lifesitenews.com/clc/press/index.html
