(LifeSiteNews) — The ongoing investigation of presidential son Hunter Biden’s infamous discarded computer may ensnare President Joe Biden in further impropriety, according to new emails obtained by the UK’s Daily Mail.
The Mail reported that emails from the laptop, discovered last year by the New York Post after being abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop, reveal that Eric Schwerin, the younger Biden’s business partner, was closely involved in the president’s personal dealings during his time as Barack Obama’s vice president, including handling the elder Biden’s taxes.
They also reveal that Joe and Hunter shared a bank account and paid each other’s household bills — which could theoretically make the President of the United States a target of an ongoing federal investigation into his son’s business dealings, especially if money from that account went to any of Hunter’s less savory habits, such as an infamous “bender with a prostitute in a Hollywood hotel” in 2018.
Whatever transaction you’re looking at, if there’s a connection to a family member or a friend, sure the answer is yes [they would be investigated],” the Mail quoted an unnamed “former federal prosecutor and expert on money laundering and criminal tax law” as saying, though the source added that anyone attempting to ask the leader of the free world about it would “better have a pretty damn good reason” to receive a sit-down.
More seriously, the emails reveal that Rosemont Seneca, Hunter and Schwerin’s consultancy firm, received “special favors” from the Obama-Biden White House, including event tickets and private tours. “Hunter and Schwerin then privately discussed the potential to ingratiate themselves with ‘CEOs of the major banks’ if they helped arrange the request,” the Mail added.
“The information available publicly is very worrisome, particularly in the areas of corruption,” said former U.S. Intelligence Officer and Treasury Special Agent John Cassara, who believes the elder Biden would already be a target of the investigation if he wasn’t president. “Corruption is a predicate offense for money laundering. And besides corruption, it’s the perception of corruption. This kind of thing should not be happening. It undermines full faith in the U.S. government. It undermines trust and our international reputation. It’s an embarrassment.”
Democrats impeached former President Donald Trump in early 2020 for asking the Ukrainian government to help investigate Biden’s role as Vice President in the ouster of a prosecutor who had been investigating Hunter’s business dealings in the country. Democrats accused Trump of abusing his power and pursuing baseless corruption claims for political gain.
Months later, Hunter’s business dealings became the subject of controversy again when the New York Post broke the laptop story, detailing scores of emails and texts detailing how the Biden family made millions of dollars through Hunter’s facilitation of meetings between his father and business interests around the world. Democrats again tried to dismiss the story as “misinformation,” and their allies in traditional and social media worked to suppress its reach.
Eventually, the Post’s reporting was vindicated, though the “misinformation” narrative was aided by Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss’s decision not to publicly confirm the existence of a federal investigation into Hunter until after his father defeated Trump.
However significant these latest emails may be, they are unlikely to mean significant jeopardy for Joe Biden with the U.S. Department of Justice under the leadership of Biden’s far-left, activist Attorney General Merrick Garland.
