WASHINGTON, D.C., October 23, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – Congress's next step in investigating Planned Parenthood's fetal harvesting and potentially illegal abortion practices has been unveiled.

This morning, House Speaker John Boehner, R-OH, announced the eight Republicans who will serve on the House Energy & Commerce Committee's Select Investigative Panel. The panel will take over the full committee's investigation into Planned Parenthood's policies and practices.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, will appoint five Democrats to the panel.

Committee Chairman Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, will be joined by Republican Reps. Joe Pitts of Pennsylvania, Diane Black of Tennessee, Larry Bucshon of Indiana, Sean Duffy of Wisconsin, Andy Harris of Maryland, Vicki Hartzler of Missouri, and Mia Love of Utah.

“Recent videos exposing the abortion-for-baby parts business have shocked the nation, and demanded action,” said Boehner in a press statement. “At my request, three House committees have been investigating the abortion business, but we still don't have the full truth.  Chairman Blackburn and our members will have the resources and the subpoena power to get to the bottom of these horrific practices, and build on our work to protect the sanctity of all human life.”

In a statement, Black said that “every American deserves to know that our laws are followed and that taxpayer dollars are spent with integrity. This panel will help ensure that is the case. We will be relentless in the pursuit of the facts, we will bring the truth out into the light of day, and we will hold responsible parties accountable.”

Several members of the panel are well-known for their pro-life principles and leadership. Pitts fought for the Hyde Amendment to be included in the Affordable Care Act and is a co-chair of the socially conservative Values Action Team. Both Black and Blackburn have introduced numerous pro-life bills, and Love teared up on national TV earlier this year talking about abortion.
