OTTAWA, Feb 9, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The Liberal Government expects to introduce legislation regarding New Reproductive and Genetic Technologies – regarding in vitro fertilization, cloning, use of embryos in research and more – by May. The news comes in a report from Paul Wells of the National Post who notes that Canadian Alliance MP Preston Manning raised the question in the House of Commons Wednesday.

The Health Minister responded to Manning’s inquiry saying “the possibility of preparing draft legislation, which sets out the way forward, and then putting it before the Health committee where all parties can sit, have hearings, look into the matter and have some public discussion.”
