LONG ISLAND, NY, Feb 18 (LifeSiteNews) – Choices Women’s Medical Center, has been closed temporarily after authorities discovered that the clinic performed “hasty” abortions, lacked the required equipment and infection control, failed to properly screen and monitor employees and did not have enough nurses. The abortuary was fined $20,000 and closed until it could rectify the situation.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that the abortuary reopened Friday only to close again when it was discovered that the building’s certificate of occupancy does not allow medical procedures. An investigation into the center’s Medicaid billing practices is also underway.

Choices gained notoriety recently when reports indicated that its now fired medical director Dr. Allan Zarkin had, while working at a hospital, carved his initials into a patient’s stomach.
