Pro-life group responds with offer of enhanced ultrasound training NEW YORK, July 4, 2002 (LSN.ca) – “Mike” Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, has ordered that starting July 1, medical students in the city’s public hospitals, the nation’s largest public system which trains one-seventh of the nation’s doctors, will be required to master the “art” of abortion, writes Kathryn Jean Lopez, a National Review Online editor. The announcement will please the National Abortion Rights Action League, which is very concerned that most abortionists in America are over 50 and that young doctors are less interested. In fact, Lopez quotes one resident doctor saying: “I guess I never realized I would find it as unpleasant as I do. I really don’t enjoy it [at] all. It’s not a rewarding thing to do.”“Remarkably,” Lopez writes, “abortion is on the decline” in the U.S. But “if Bloomberg’s move starts a trend” in other cities, she predicts, “it could revive the practice of abortion in America.” In response, Christopher Slattery, president of the local group Expectant Mother Care, has written an open letter to obstetricians and gynecologists, published on the US Newswire, as residents begin their residencies this week. Titled “What your Abortion Trainers May Not Tell You, and a Special Offer to Train on New 4D GE Sonogram Unit, Below,” the letter includes the following facts and links: – Women who have abortions are significantly more likely to die (3.5X) within the year. https://www.afterabortion.orgNewsabortiondeaths.html https://www.afterabortion.orgPARV8
