Year Of The Pro-Life Woman by John Hayward
– Human Events
The success of the Susan B. Anthony List illuminates a long-standing conviction of mine: the causes of both fiscal and social conservatism are inextricably tied to the cause of liberty.
What we refer to as “fiscal conservatism” is the practical expression of liberty.  Social conservatism is, at heart, its moral expression.  It is the resistance of free people to the transformative agenda of the collective.

‘The Big Apple Abortion Conspiracy?’ – NCR
This proposed New York City law could be a model for national legislation. But will NARAL get its way?

No more “mental retardation”. So? We need to stop aborting them
– Mercator
I would prefer my daughter to be called a “retard” and know that abortion of babies with Down syndrome had ceased. Early last month President Barack Obama signed a law decreeing that federal statutes must no longer use the term “mental retardation”. The phrase replacing it will be “intellectual disability”. Many Down syndrome advocates were jubilant. But I am more skeptical. Drawing a new word from the thesaurus is not enough. We have to respect the right of the mentally disabled to exist. We need to stop aborting them.

I didn’t want 4 abortions but I really could not afford to be a mum
– The Sun, UK
STACY CUTLER listens to her 22-week-old unborn child’s heartbeat – and her eyes fill with tears. Stacy believes she made the right decision when terminating four pregnancies – one only two weeks before the legal limit of 24 weeks. Stacy, who was on the Pill when she fell pregnant all four times, feels that abortion is still too much of a taboo in this country.

European Court of Human Rights to Decide if a Right to be Dead
– Wesley J. Smith
We live in a strange era in which Jefferson’s “right to life” supposedly has a concomitant “right to death.”  At least, that will be the case if the European Court of Human Rights rules that Germany violated the right of a woman with disabilities to

Fetal Stem Cell Human Treatment Trial for Stroke
– Wesley J. Smith
Fetal farming, e.g., creating cloned fetuses and gestating them for the purpose of instrumental uses, is already being advocated in some circles.  That needs to be resisted at all measures.

Recent research by a South Korean Catholic hospital has shown that adult stem cells can provide a highly effective treatment for malignant brain tumors and other types of cancer.

Open Up! We’re the Organ Collectors
– Wesley J. Smith
There’s something wrong with this picture: A pilot program has started in NYC that will have organ collectors go to the homes of people who just died of a heart attack to collect the body and harvest kidneys. Can you imagine, you’re grieving the news from the ER team that your young husband–who 20 minutes ago keeled while over eating breakfast cereal–is dead.  And then a knock on the door and uninvited strangers come in telling you they want his body to harvest the organs?  Good grief. The real goal with this program is to move toward presumed consent. Families are guilted into taking loved ones off of life support and donating their organs. I will never sign a donor card
