Playing the environmental shame game
– National Post
Today’s environmentalism is as much about running other people’s lives as it is about saving the planet. Activists routinely hector us on what kind of shopping bags and light bulbs we can use, what forms of transportation are acceptable, how many squares of toilet paper to deploy, and what kind of diapers to buy. Yet many of these eco-warriors would likely be aghast if the tables were turned, and they were lectured on how to conduct their moral lives.

Children typically rebel in their teenage years against whatever orthodoxy has been previously rammed down their throats. In a decade or so, when all the little Felix Lanciaults begin reaching high school, they may just revolt against the environmentalists’ sanctimonious edicts, and reclaim some freedom for the rest of us.

Why Don’t Americans “Believe” in Global Warming? Snobbery of Climate Change Advocates – Wesley J. Smith

The Nazi Origins of Apocalyptic Global Warming Theory – American Thinker
One of the primary pioneering theorists on apocalyptic global warming is Guenther Schwab (1902-2006), an Austrian Nazi. While this may sound odd to many who have bought into the Marxian propaganda over the years that the Nazis were right wing capitalistic extremists, greens who signed up for the Nazi Party were actually very typical of the day.  The most widely represented group of people in the Nazi Party was the greens, and Guenther Schwab was just one of among many.

Naked bodies and a new Messiah

If anyone had any doubt that the global warming movement is undergoing a serious collapse, this so-called news article from Spiegel Online, entitled “Naked bodies and a new Messiah: Green groups are trying to sex up climate change,” probably lays that doubt to rest.
Environmentalists and scientists are concerned about the massive drop in public interest in the topic over the last year. Now they are looking for new strategies to turn the tide. They’re searching for so-called “mind bombs” — highly emotional images that reduce a complex problem down to one core message.

All in all, I’m not sure what disgusts me most: the desire of environmentalists to propagandize us, irrelevant of the facts, or the unwillingness of a professional journalist to do his job and ask some basic skeptical questions.

High Energy Prices Are Obama’s ‘Explicit Policy Goal,’ Inhofe Says – CNS
A prominent GOP senator on energy issues accused President Barack Obama Thursday morning of having set an “explicit policy goal” of making energy prices more costly for Americans. “We have, in fact, 163 billion barrels of recoverable oil – nearly six times higher than what President Obama and the Democrats like to claim,” Inhofe continued. “Let’s think about 163 billion barrels for a moment: that is enough to maintain our current levels of production and replace our imports from the Persian Gulf for more than 50 years.”
“If you think $4.00 is too much for a gallon of regular, fasten your seat belts.”

Defining teachers’ boundaries
by Tamsin McMahon, National Post
When news broke that a six-year-old boy in Laval, Que., had been shut out of a teddy bear contest at school because he happened to have a plastic sandwich bag in his lunch, it sparked an angry backlash, a wave of interview requests from across North America. The incident prompted a deeper debate over the role that schools play in promoting social values, a role that strays far beyond the boundaries of academics, into issues such as healthy living, sexual education, social justice and environmental activism.

Waking up from the eco-dream by Lorne Gunter, National Post
Ontario’s Liberal government used Friday’s wall-to-wall media coverage of Egypt to announce yet another climb-down from its vaunted greenenergy schemes. About the only thing left of Premier Dalton McGuinty’s obsession with converting his province from carbon energy to wind, solar, hydro and biofuels is sharply higher consumer energy prices. These higher rates will be with Ontarians for decades

It’s the worst of both worlds: Ontarians will be getting very little new “green” energy, but will be paying dearly for it. After encouraging thousands of Ontario farmers and other landowners to build small-scale solar projects, the McGuinty government has figured out there is no practical way to connect all these new solar panels to the provincial power grid. Oops. …it costs more to hook 10,000 rooftop solar panels to the grid than can be saved by generating power in this new-fashioned way.
