Nancy Pelosi: ‘Elections Shouldn’t Matter as Much as They Do’ – Weekly Standard

Nancy Pelosi fades as power player – Poitico
Her diminished stature has affected the way she is perceived in Washington’s power game and the way she handles her duties as head of the House Democratic minority. It all adds up to this: At times, the once-omnipresent Pelosi seems practically invisible in the Capitol.

Oprah: America’s most powerful religious leader
– Catholic Herald
Milo Yiannopoulos says the talk show host offers a vague spirituality perfectly tailored to a selfish and materialistic age. Her thesis is simple: Oprah has become a cultural phenomenon because she has fused religious idiom, consumerism and celebrity obsession to forge a terrifyingly potent global brand, one that is as much a religion as it is a corporate entity.

Two George Soros Events Aim to Remake the Financial Order and the Media – Fox News
The left-wing billionaire is helping fund two major conferences that start on the same day, in two different locations just three hours apart by car. God created the world in six days. Apparently, Soros, who sees himself as “some kind of god,”needs just a long weekend to start remaking today’s world in his image.

…a Soros-funded media conference is trying to manipulate that emerging order as well. Close to 350 left-wingers from a variety of organizations are gathering there for the National Conference for Media Reform. That “change the world” conference includes two commissioners from the FCC, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Bernie Sanders, four Democratic representatives…

US BUDGET BATTLE

Obama blows up the bridge
– WND
“Rather than building bridges, he’s poisoning wells,” said Rep. Paul Ryan, after listening to Barack Obama’s scathing attack on his deficit-reduction plan as a shredding of America’s social contract with the elderly and poor. Ryan is right. Yet, with Obama’s partisan savagery, virtually calling the GOP plan immoral, we have clarity. The two parties on Capitol Hill and the president will not be coming together to solve the gravest financial and fiscal crisis America has faced since the Great Depression.

Michele Bachmann, Steve King and Tea Party Patriots on Budget Deal: Not Even Remotely Enough

Robert Stacy McCain in his article this morning for The American Spectator said that this deal was no conservative victory. My own midnight mood was disgruntled. It appears that Republican leaders used pro-lifers as a bargaining chip, making a show of standing firm on the defunding of Planned Parenthood, only to abandon that position at the last minute.

Make No Mistake – The Republicans Lost – Creative Minority Report
There are many people who I respect that view the deal cut by Republicans as a victory, a victory in the budget battle and a victory in the defense of life. They are wrong.

Let’s get the budget stuff out of the way. The Republicans reduced the deficit by a measly 2%, meaning the at the government will still spend well more than a trillion more than it brings in with our already obscene taxes. That is like Michael Moore not eating the last cookie in 12 cartons of Oreos because he is dieting. It means nothing. The Republicans used defunding of Planned Parenthood as a bargaining chip to get an extra few billion in cuts.
