MANAGUA, Nicaragua, Mar 28 (LSN.ca) – Nicaraguan President Arnoldo Alemán said that he will veto laws that support abortion because the state has the duty to protect human life, reported Zenit News yesterday. Speaking in the national baseball stadium Sunday, on the Day of the Unborn, he said, “Every baby in the maternal womb has the right to be born, and the state has the duty to protect him.”

Archbishop Renato Martino, the Vatican’s permanent observer at the United Nations, celebrated Mass. “Those of us who regard human life as sacred have the duty to protect and support it in all the stages of its development, from conception until natural death,” he said.
