TORONTO, May 29, 2002 (LSN.ca) – In a rare victory for pro-lifers in Canada, the Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL) has garnered assurances from all three billboard companies in Toronto that they will not carry the anti-Catholic billboards by the pro-abortion group Catholics for a Free Choice (CFFC) during World Youth Day celebrations.
Earlier this month CCRL gained assurances from Pattison Outdoor and Viacom that no such billboards would be put up during the upcoming Catholic event. Skye Media, the remaining billboard company told CCRL Friday that they rejected the renewal of the CFFC campaign. Both Pattison and Skye carried the CFFC ads and rejected their renewal after CCRL launched a campaign to pressure the companies into dumping the ads which were defamatory to Catholics.
