LONDON, October 1, 2001 (LSN.ca) – British Judge Daniel Rodwell QC, gave a suspended sentence on Friday to a 69-year-old who attempted to kill her bedridden mother. The Guardian reports that Dorren Marshall, admitted attempted murder, having crushed sleeping pills into 90-year-old Cecilia Maxwell’s food.
Her mother survived the ordeal, but only with extended treatment. The judge said during sentencing: “What your motive was, one of mercy and consideration for your mother.” Marshall received a 12-month jail sentence suspended for two years.
