ATLANTA, Georgia – (LifeSiteNews) – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has withheld reams of data pertaining to COVID-19 vaccines for more than a year, the New York Times reported Sunday, stating that the agency did not want the public to ‘misinterpret’ the information.

The agency has deliberately withheld detailed information about Covid infections broken down by age, race, and vaccination status, which may have helped in the fight against the disease, from local health officials who were thus forced to rely on data from countries such as Israel, the report said.

The CDC left out data on a huge swath of the population, those aged 18 – 49, when it published the first significant data on the effectiveness of boosters in adults younger than 65 two weeks ago. People in this age group would be those least likely to benefit from booster shots, and it dramatically skewed the impression of the data.

Kristen Nordlund, a spokeswoman for the CDC, told the New York Times that the agency has withheld streams of data “because basically, at the end of the day, it’s not yet ready for prime time.”

Nordlund said that the agency’s “priority when gathering any data is to ensure that it’s accurate and actionable” and that the agency feared that the information might be misinterpreted.

Outraged scientists said that they had not even known that the data existed, and that the CDC had thwarted their efforts to track the disease.

“We have been begging for that sort of granularity of data for two years,” Jessica Malaty Rivera, an epidemiologist and part of the team that ran the Covid Tracking Project, which ran until March 2021, told the Times.

Rivera said there was no risk of the data being misinterpreted, and added that it “builds public trust, and it paints a much clearer picture of what’s actually going on.”

Paul Offit, a Food and Drug Administration vaccine developer and overseer, said that scientists had been relying on external data from countries including Israel in the absence of CDC data.

“I have to believe that there is a way to explain these things so people can understand it,” Offit said.

“The CDC is the principal epidemiological agency in this country, and so you would like to think the data came from them.”

Dr Yvonne Maldonado, chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Committee on Infectious Diseases, told the Times that the agency had not given her information that she had requested from the CDC about other medical conditions children hospitalized with COVID had.

“They’ve known this for over a year and a half, right, and they haven’t told us,” Maldonado said.

“I mean, you can’t find out anything from them.”

Scientific fraud

“This meets the criteria of scientific fraud,” Robert Malone, a key inventor of the mRNA technology used in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, told World Net Daily. “Withholding data is scientific fraud.”

Ryan Cole,
a Mayo Clinic-trained pathologist who runs a major diagnostic lab in Idaho, told WND that as “an ethical physician who took oaths to the human race, this is incredibly disturbing.”

“These are the people that are entrusted to tell us the truth,” he said of the CDC officials.

Michael Waller, Senior Analyst for Strategy, Center for Security Policy, and a founding editorial board member of the NATO Defence Strategic Communications journal, tweeted, “It’s political manipulation of scientific data like this that makes people not ‘trust the science.’ It is unscientific to withhold data because people might disagree with your policies.”

“We’re supposed to follow the science, but it’s kind of hard to do when they keep hiding it from us…” one Twitter user remarked.

The agency has been criticized for publishing data on cases without distinguishing false positives and asymptomatic cases from those seriously ill to hiding data on breakthrough cases – cases of SARS-CoV2 infection after vaccination.

They’ve been criticized repeatedly for failing to investigate serious adverse events and to make public the numbers of reports of vaccine injuries to the US Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting Agency (VAERS). VAERS now registers 1,071,856 adverse events, including nearly 35,000 injuries in children aged 5 to 17.  The CDC has also been repeatedly accused of failing to adequately warn people about serious known risks from the jabs, including the elevated risk of potentially fatal heart inflammation in teens and young adults following mRNA vaccination.

Nordlund also told the New York Times that the agency was reluctant to use the data because it was based on a sample size of 10% of the population – however, that is the same sample size that has been used to track influenza for years.
