ANTIGONISH, NS, May 25 (LSN) – Mr Justice Ron Pugsley of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal ruled last week that an Antigonish County couple pose a danger to their children, because they use corporal punishment to discipline their children. The father has said he disciplines the children with a stick about the size of a wooden spoon, for serious matters such as lying and fighting.  The couple testified that corporal punishment is in accord with their Christian religious beliefs. In spite of a lack of evidence showing the children had suffered any harm, the judge sided with local social workers, and ruled the children were in need of protection.
