(LifeSiteNews) — Former U.S. President Barack Obama and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, both announced this week they contracted COVID-19 despite being “fully vaccinated” and boosted.

“I just tested positive for COVID,” Obama wrote in a March 13 Twitter post.

The former president, who said he’s “grateful to be vaccinated and boosted,” explained he has had “a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise.”

Obama added that his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, has thus far tested negative for the virus.

“It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down,” he argued, regardless of the fact that the jabs don’t stop transmission or infection with the virus.

Two days later on March 15, Emhoff also reported coming down with the virus, tweeting a message nearly identical to the one posted by Obama.

“I tested positive for COVID. My symptoms are mild and I’m grateful to be both vaccinated and boosted,” Emhoff said.

“If you have yet to get vaccinated and boosted, please don’t wait,” he added.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden sparked laughter on Tuesday when he said “the First Lady’s husband contracted COVID,” with commentators pointing out that he had accidentally suggested that either Kamala Harris was the First Lady or that he himself had contracted the virus.

News of both Emhoff and Obama testing positive for COVID, despite being at least triple-jabbed, comes long after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ceased counting so-called “breakthrough cases” last summer. Public health experts have also widely acknowledged the jabs don’t stop the spread of the virus.

While advocates argue the injections lessen the symptoms of COVID-19, the efficacy of the shots has been shown to steadily nosedive over time.

The failure of the jabs to provide lasting protection has led to increased calls by pharmaceutical companies, public health experts, and media pundits for a third and fourth dose of a drug that was originally marketed as being nearly 100% effective.
