TORONTO, July 5 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Anti-spanking activists were furious yesterday when Ontario Superior Court Justice David McCombs upheld the right of parents to responsibly use spanking as a form of discipline while raising their children. A group calling itself the “Children’s Foundation” sought to have Section 43 of the Criminal Code declared unconstitutional. The section gives parents, teachers and guardians the latitude they need to make reasonable decisions about disciplining their children.

The judge acknowledges in his 28 page ruling that he is against spanking and urges Parliament to reconsider the law, but he nevertheless ruled that he was not prepared to throw the law out. A lawyer for the “Children’s Foundation” said the decision would be appealed.
