TORONTO, Jan 2, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Despite public opposition the provincial government of Ontario is still pushing ahead with plans for “smart cards.” The Globe and Mail reports that Minister Chris Hodgson has confirmed that the plans are underway to have a multipurpose identity card, combining access to health records, driver’s licences, birth certificates and other vital information.
