TORONTO, September 30, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne received the 2013 LGBT Leadership Award from the country’s leading homosexualist organization Egale for her work in advancing “lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) human rights both at home and abroad”.
Wynne, the first premier in Canada to be openly gay, received the award from Egale Canada Human Rights Trust on Friday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Toronto.
During her acceptance speech, Wynne recounted her efforts to advance the gay movement as Minister of Education, according to Xtra. She spoke of her pivotal role in forcing gay-straight alliances on Ontario schools, both public and Catholic, and said that more must be done to make this a reality across the province.
The award was given at Queerversaries, Egale’s 5th Annual Gala. The event, at $300 a plate, was a fundraiser for Egale to help it in its “goal of combatting homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and all other forms of discrimination so that every person can achieve their full potential, unencumbered by hatred and bias.”

The gay-lobby EGALE (Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere) led the charge that brought same-sex ‘marriage’ to Canada in 2005 and was instrumental in bringing homosexual clubs into schools through its successful promotion of the “safe schools” strategy. It has made vitriolic attacks against the Catholic Church for its moral opposition to its agenda.
A handful of gay activists protested the event with signs and banners, saying that Wynne as premier has not done enough to advance what they called key homosexual issues: HIV criminalization and the controversial Ontario sexual health education curriculum.
Under the first draft of that curriculum, which was scrapped, young school children starting in grade one would have been taught about gender identity, homosexuality, masturbation, oral sex and other similar topics.
