BAKER CITY, OR, August 21, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Bishop Robert Vasa has called the pro-choice culture a victory for the Devil, saying that “Satan must be very pleased indeed” with the results.

Bishop Vasa’s column in the Catholic Sentinel entitled Satan, while hidden, remains active in us and in society discussed society’s tendency to overlook the Devil’s role in the increasingly widespread acceptance and demand for abortion, euthanasia, and homosexual unions.

In a reference to demons in C. S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters, he compared modern moral ambiguity to “the topsy-turvy world of Screwtape and Wormwood.”

“When taking the life of an innocent pre-born child is seen as right and a right and when the preservation of precisely that right becomes the object of a political campaign,” wrote Bishop Vasa, “I suspect the letter from Screwtape to the demon master of that campaign would be filled with praise.

“When a whole society begins to question whether marriage really requires one man and one woman . . . Satan must be very pleased indeed.”

When we are met with such anti-traditional values we must, he says, reach “the unmistakable conclusion that ‘an enemy has done this.’”
